Centre News 22nd January 2008

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Hello!

Hope everyone is well and keeping dry!

I have been at the centre this afternoon trying to catch up with the Gift Aid! So now I have all the gossip! Joanne was much better today, she went home early yesterday due to a sore throat and coughing and spluttering germs over everyone. Her 8 puppies are growing and bringing her lots of joy, I think that’s what she said! Richard is busy doing the ’sage’ no, he hasn’t taken up gardening, it’s a new accounting system that the committee have put in place and started in operation on January 1st. James has new responsibilities…..he is now doing the newsletter! I am sure he will do a good job. Trevor is back after a week in the sun and busy sorting out his collections. Sue who used to help him  is no longer available so he is now looking for new ‘people’ please help if you can, if it’s only for an hour and your local store, it all helps! The centre has a new volunteer, her name is Angela and she will be helping on a Tuesday and Thursday, so it was nice to meet her today.

The masked Gala planned for February has unfortunately been postponed, but it is hoped it will take place at a later date. Fundraising is an essential part of funding the centre, so if you have any ideas for raising money please let Joanne know.

Sandra is back at the centre, anyone wanting a physio appointment please speak to Joanne.

*****Committee News*****

The AGM (Annual General Meeting) was held on Monday 14th January this was postponed from June 2007 and dealt with the year 2006. It all gets very complicated!   It was a cold wet night but we had a good turn out! The existing committee were re-elected plus Marion Spruce. If you remember we sent out letters asking anyone who wanted to stand to let us know, unfortunately not everyone got their forms in by the closing date, although this had been extended, so we only had ten people standing for the committee. The next AGM  is planned for April/May 2008 (this is when it should be held)  so if anyone still wishes to join the committee they will be given another opportunity. Norman Long who has raised lots of money for the centre, MS Challenge and the famous summer barbecues is now an Honorary Member of the Committee. Norman was Chairman for over 8 years. Sue Huggins has resigned from the Committee. A Vice Chair position was created and Staff are to be allowed at committee meetings, though they will be unable to vote. The minutes from the AGM is available at the centre. If anyone wants a copy please speak to Joanne. Louise (Craven) was in yesterday for a dive. I understand that a committee meeting will take place next week where they will choose a Chairman, Vice Chair and Secretary.I will let you know as soon as I know!

Think that is all the news for now, I will keep you posted!
